Out for the weekend
Filed under: The Fosters;1 CommentThere’s a good chance there won’t be any updates this weekend. I’ve been so busy with the cats both foster and plain ole pain in the butt locals that I’ve sluffed off an enormous amount of work.
Currently I’ve been locking my cats away for a few hours a couple times a day and letting out the preggo, but she doesn’t seem interested in doing anything other than tracking me down, shoving her face into mine and flopping over for belly rubs. It’s cute to watch her slither in for the rub! She’s definitely grabbed my heart. I’m a pretty lucky guy!

Madonna Makes Parole!
Filed under: The Fosters; No CommentsToday is Sept 5th. I’ve had Madonna for a couple days cooped up in that bedroom. I go in with her for about an hour every few hours so she’s not too lonely, but it still bums me out to keep her locked up.
So today we move onto phase II! Letting her get acclimated with the rest of the condo. It’s too early to just open the door and let her out among my weenie cats (i’ll explain) but my thought is she needs to be a little comfortable with the place itself before I introduce her. That way she’s not in a really unfamiliar place and it might reduce her initial stress.
I locked up weenie 1 and weenie 2 in the bedrroom and let Madonna out. It was then that I realized just how messy one tiny pregnant cat can make an entire bedroom in ONE day. I vacuumed this room before putting her in it. Sure can’t tell now

I guess it could be worse. At least she used the litter box.
Her parole was made and she was released at 8:00am Friday Sept 5. It’s not really parole of course, more like work release because after a few hours I need to put her back in so the others can reclaim their home;

She got use to things pretty quickly. Followed me everywhere but when I’d sit in one spot she’d explore. She managed to stick her paws under the door where the other two are at so she succeeded in pissing them off already!
After awhile she relaxed some and started ‘getting her cat on’. First cleaning up,

Then begging for some tummy rubs. Man this cat LOVES her tummy to be rubbed. My guess it is’t pretty sore from being stretched like a balloon.

So things are good. She’s sitting by my pc right now as I type
To answer the earlier statement about my cats being weenies. I ran a test. Madonna was behind her door, and my two were just on the other side. So I opened the door letting them stare face to face. I onlly wanted to do it for a second.
Within I’d say 1/3 of a second, my two had turned around, stuck their tails straight up in the air, and ran all the way to the other end of the condo. Madonna, however, never moved and started playfully meowing and kneading the floor.

Getting a little more relaxed
Filed under: The Fosters; No CommentsThings are still pretty tense around here. My cats are still not happy they lost their entire play room. In fact, and I know cats don’t really have literal emotions, but I SWEAR they’re mad at me.
I managed to get a couple pics of Madonna’s belly, but man they just don’t do it justice. It’s much bigger than it looks but she won’t sit still long enough to get a pic. I also got a short video I’ll upload later for fun.

Wow what a night.
My two cats are a mess. They are not doing well with this at all so far. I’m sure they’ll calm down, but poor tinker spent the entire night under my bed. She came out long enough to eat some food, throw it up then run back under the bed.
Wilbur just sits and stares at the door. Then when Madonna (i didnt name this cat) pokes her tiny feet under the door he hisses and walks away.
This might be a longer process than I thought to socialize them. But it’ll happen
Madonna is by far the most affectionate cat I’ve EVER seen. I spent about 3 hours in the room with her last night. She purred the entire time. Kneading the floor wherever she went.
2.5 of those hours, yes I timed it, she spent on her back with me rubbing her tummy. She absolutely loves it! she is so cute. on her back with her huge belly and she’s kneading the air

Her being this affectionate makes me feel that much worse about having to lock her up in the bedroom. She’s got lots of room but I know she’s bored and lonely. She doesn’t seem very scared anymore.
All in all I think it was a successful day. We’ll get our little temporary family going and be happy soon. This mom will be a snap to adopt out when this is all over. I am not kidding about how affectionate she is.
A lot of the time when she was on her back and I was tummy rubbing, I’d let my hand rest and I could feel the kittens moving around. Quite a bit actually. You could even see it! I don’t think she’s got long to go at all.
