White kittens get racing stripes!
Filed under: The Fosters;2 CommentsEven the first day they were born the four white kittens have been an interesting focus to anyone that sees their’ pictures. Of course the first day they were pure white, but even later that day it seemed like you could see some darkening on the ears. Just a touch. not even the fur, but the underlying skin was starting to change.
They’re definitely not going to be white kittens. There’s no arguing that. But I found it interesting that they’re becoming striped. but I don’t know what to think. Check out this picture. Notice the areas I highlighted. The arms are cross striped, the heads have racing stripes and the tails look like candy canes

P.S. those t-shirts are not filthy in there even though they look like it. They’re just stained from the birth. I rotate out clean t-shirts every 2 days now.

From concern to instigator
Filed under: The Fosters;1 CommentStarted the weekend off hoping the little guy was OK. he’s the smallest of the litter. His eye was having a hard time opening.
Using a cotton pad (as recommended) i got his eye to open up yesterday. Now, a day later, he’s the instigator in the litter. Wanting to play with any and everyone that walks by him.
Without question this is a happy kitten

Our First Red Flag
Filed under: The Fosters;2 CommentsI’ve been watching the kitten’s eyes opening. it’s now been 19 days since birth. They should all be opened by now. But we’ve got one slow poke! His eyes aren’t quite there. It’s starting to concern me. I also posted this on a forum I frequent and got some advice I should start using warm water and cotton pads to gently try to open it over the next couple days. If it doesn’t work I’ve been told I should take him to the vet.
